The North Queensland Touch Association established the Hurricanes Junior Referee Squad development program in 2011 with the purpose of fostering and developing junior referees that have the commitment and interest in refereeing Touch Football at an elite level.

The program is open to all junior referees within North Queensland that meet the required selection criteria and provides the following benefits to junior referee members:

  • Guidance and mentoring through the levels of Touch refereeing
  • Access to personalised development plans and programs
  • Personal contact with their own senior referee Mentor (one-on-one coaching)
  • Funding to attend representative tournaments where they will receive access to elite coaching
